Our kindergarteners were hard at work this week, continuing to investigate what it means to be healthy. We learned to categorize foods as healthy or unhealthy and spent time talking about the importance of fueling our bodies with important vitamins and minerals.
We learned about some of our most important body parts and used our expert drawing and writing skills to create detailed diagrams of our bodies. How cute are these??!
Inspired by a conversation between a few students comparing their size to our new skeleton puzzle, we dove into some early measurement concepts this week as well. Children were very excited to measure and compare different parts of their bodies.
Wow, we did A LOT in 3 days!!
This week was a great reminder for me that when you take the time to listen, children have such a beautiful way of showing us what they're ready to learn. Everything that happened in class this week arose from the interests, questions and passions of your children.
Classroom Information and Reminders:
2. Next Friday, March 8, children are invited to dress like their favourite book character at school! Given that this will only be for the morning class, afternoon students are welcome to dress like their favourite character on Thursday if they wish :)
3. Mrs. Seddon is looking for an afternoon parent volunteer who is available to come in every Monday to help out with home reading. We would need you from 12:40 to approximately 1:10 each Monday. If you have your approved security clearance and would be interested in helping out, please email Mrs. Seddon (ljseddon@cbe.ab.ca).
As you have probably noticed by now, we LOVE wearing silly glasses (and taking pictures of ourselves in them)! If you have any old sunglasses or frames around the house that you no longer use, we would love to add them to our classroom collection :)
