- Was your child able to draw a picture of something that you could identify?
- Was your child able to sound out the word for each picture? (Please note that perfect spelling is not what we're after at this time in the year. Children should be comfortable sounding out some of the dominant sounds that they hear in each word. See pictures below.)
- Were they able to accurately measure the length of each picture (squares side by side)?
- Were they able to correctly count and record the number of squares on each page?
- Was your child able to read their completed book to you?
SO MANY learning outcomes from one little activity!
They loved reading their completed books to each other when they were finished.
We compared the lengths of many things this week. Children were challenged to find at least 10 objects in the room and order them from shortest to longest. Most of our kiddos totally rocked this!
A couple of our little friends still need a bit of extra practice with this concept. Have your child try this at home :)
To further our understanding of animals in winter, we spent time this week learning about migration. Ask your child to teach you about some of the animals that migrate. There are 3 main reasons why animals will choose to migrate. See if your child can identify all 3!
Our letter of the week was O. We loved watching ArtHub and drawing otters and orcas!
We continued with floor hockey this week in gym and had some wild games on the go with 30 balls in play!
Classroom Information and Reminders
1. Due to Teacher's Convention next week, there is no school for students on February 13th and 14th.
2. If children are interested, they may bring in valentines to hand out on Wednesday, February 12th. Please refrain from sending in food treats and please leave the "To" part blank on each valentine. Thank you for helping this day to run smoothly!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Miss Roberts :)
The afternoon class witnessed a pretty spectacular show outside of our classroom window. We're in the process of trying to figure out what kind of birds these are. They put on an amazing air show for us!!
