Throughout this short and sweet week in kindergarten, we returned to our investigation of animals in winter. We reviewed that all animals in cold climates either hibernate, migrate or adapt. Each child chose an animal to contribute to an exciting mural project we have underway and wrote an interesting fact about it. We learned a tricky new paper art technique to create these animals and they turned out so great! This project involved a great deal of problem solving, persistence and creativity. They were quite proud of their adorable little animals in the end.
Our measurement focus this week involved comparing objects by their weight. The kiddos are learning to use a balance scale and use words such as lighter and heavier when making object comparisons. We are also learning to represent this understanding with pictures and words.
We played a new number game this week called Lucky Number (GENIUS EDITION). The kiddos are gradually becoming more comfortable with counting-on as a strategy when adding 2 groups or numbers together.
Welcome to glitter town! Thanks to some pretty nifty classroom donations (thanks Miss Ma 😃😉), we've been having a whole lot of fun exploring some process-based, mixed media artwork. I apologize in advance for the glitter you will now find EVERYWHERE in your home :) These beautiful creations capture the children's memories, moments and feelings and have every single child feeling like a successful artist.
Our letter this week was V :)
