I am filled with so much joy after having spent the last week with your children! I can already tell it’s going to be an incredible year. My heart is bursting with pride over how much effort and thoughtfulness your kiddos have demonstrated throughout our first days together. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this beautiful time in your child’s life.
Our first few days in kindergarten have focused on establishing our routines, getting to know one another, learning to be responsible for our belongings, and working as a team to keep our classroom space clean and organized. We are learning so much about each other and are quickly becoming a classroom family. There have been so many giggles and smiles.
We start each day by signing-in and writing our names. At this point, children are invited to trace their name or write it on blank lines.
Centre time is an exciting part of our day when children are free to create, explore and investigate the many treasures we have in our room. This is a definite highlight for the children and provides many opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, experimentation and wonder. Here’s a sneak peek into some of our centre time magic…
When we came to school on Wednesday, our friend Bruno the Bear, had mysteriously gone missing! Luckily, he left us sneaky clues that sent us on an exciting adventure to help us find him. His clues led us to the office, library, music room, and the gym. That tricky bear…what a fun way to explore our new school ;)
We’ve been reading many stories about kindness, starting school, making friends and celebrating what makes us unique. The children are exploring different ways of representing themselves and created some spectacular self-portraits.
Mrs. Planden and I will post here weekly. Come back often to see what we’ve been up to :)
Please note, I have attempted NOT to include any beautiful faces in the photos this week. Once I receive a list of who has given media release consent (this was one of the online forms), I will begin including faces and smiles!
Classroom Info and Reminders
1. As many of you already know, Mrs. Planden and I share the teaching responsibilities for our little learners. In addition to being a teacher, I am an artist and spend one day each week painting in my studio. Mrs. Planden is also passionate about art and has her very own art studio for kids! She will be at school every Monday and alternating Fridays and will focus most of her efforts towards designing engaging math activities each week. Mrs. Planden will be in on Monday next week. I'll see you all back at school on Tuesday!
