We had a very special guest join us in kindergarten this week...Bob, the Great Horned Owl! We had so much fun observing, asking questions and learning about this beautiful creature. The children learned to create observational drawings of him from different perspectives. They were deeply engaged in this activity. You could have heard a pin drop!
The following day, Ms. La Montagne guided us through an exploration of some owl pellets. Our grade 5/6 buddies came to help us dissect these treasures. Ask your child what they found in their pellet and why owls regurgitate pellets in the first place :) This was SO COOL!
This week in math with Ms. Matthews, we learned the term capacity. We poured water into different-sized containers to see which container held more. We learned that just because a container is tall and skinny does not mean it holds more liquid than a shorter container. Students were given different sized containers to see which container could hold more.
We learned about the letter V this week and had so much fun exploring VEGETABLES and some new VALENTINE-themed centres.
Just a friendly reminder that next week is Teachers' Convention and there will be no school for students on Thursday or Friday.
Have a spectacular weekend!
