What does it mean to be mindful?

We spent a lot of time this week exploring what this means and children were encouraged to begin becoming more aware of their thoughts. We're learning to notice, without judgement, the things that pop up in our mind. We've discovered that thoughts are like bubbles; sometimes they pop, sometimes they linger, and sometimes they float away. Children reflected on some of the thought bubbles that float around in their mind from time to time...

We spent time learning new strategies each day to help us feel calm and at peace. We've been learning new breathing techniques and have explored the fun process of creating mandalas. These simple, repetitive patterns are meditative and very relaxing to create (I'd highly recommend it). The children were challenged to complete their drawings in silence and they totally rocked it!

This week's letter was G. We enjoyed reading The Gruffalo and a few children decided to paint this fun character at centre time.

Our morning class had a very special guest performance by the amazing Elisa! Every child had an opportunity to try out one of her violins!

We've started floor hockey in gym and I am blown away by all of the little hockey stars in our group... WOWZA!

We are looking forward to chatting with you at next week's Parent Teacher Conferences! If you are having any difficulties booking an online time, please contact the main office for assistance :)

Thank you for another beautiful week with your kiddos. We have so much fun together and I feel truly grateful for the time we share.

Love,
