Spring Is in the Air

It was a bright and sunny week in kindergarten! We had so much fun exploring some of the early signs of springtime and worked hard on our second last letter of the alphabet! Only 1 more to go!

 

 

We did a writing warm up on Tuesday that had us practicing using spaces between our words. Although this is not a kindergarten expectation, many of our learners are ready for this exciting next step. 

 

 

We wrapped up our exploration of the 5 senses this week with some plasticine exploration and a fun game that had us using our sense of hearing! Ask your child about some of the sounds they heard in our game.

We learned that one of the many exciting things that happens in spring is that many animals begin to have their babies! We learned about many different animals and the names of their babies. Did you know that a baby orangutan is called an infant? So cute! 

 

 

 

 

Once we were baby animal experts, we went outside to discover our special surprise from Ms. Matthews! These baby goats were so cute and so gentle (except when they tried to eat part of my pants and my hair).

 

Here's a note about math from Mrs. Planden...

Last week, we explored our school for 2-D shapes. We found so many examples of circles, triangles, squares and rectangles both inside and outside. We've read lots of books and watched lots of multimedia that say that shapes are everywhere and we have to agree!

This week, we used air-dry modelling clay to create an example of the four main shapes and paid particular attention to how many edges/sides and corners the shapes had. We used rolling pins and knives to create our shapes and had a lot of fun exploring the air dry clay!
