With the weather being so spectacular, we spent most of our days outside this week. Everything is more fun in the sun! We focused on the letter X this week...our last letter! Woo hoo!
We spent a lot of time chatting about the signs of springtime and created checklists in our journals. The following day, we went outside to see how many of them we could find in our very own school yard.
Ask your child about the exciting insect we had emerge in our classroom! They made guesses about what was inside, before learning what it was. Hint: it isn't a butterfly!
Each day, when children enter the classroom, they sign-in by answering a question. Today, the children created their own survey questions to ask their classmates. Afterwards, we looked at the data we collected and shared what we learned from each survey.
Here's a note from Mrs. Planden:
In math, we continued delving into our shape and space unit. Our entry activity involved us colouring and searching for 2D shapes in a colouring page we collaborated on together. We found all of the 2D shapes we had been studying, even a hexagon and trapezoid! We were also introduced to 3-D shapes, which differ from 2D shapes because they aren’t flat! I wonder if we will find any 3D shapes in the same picture next week?

Just a friendly reminder that we have a very special event coming into our classroom next Thursday, May 11th. BOTH AM and PM kindergarten will be coming in the morning on that day to enjoy the creepy crawly delights. Our kindergarten day will run from 8:40-11:30. There will be no afternoon kindergarten on that day. We will need our volunteers (Melissa, Nancy, Mandeep, Carynne) at 8:40 sharp :)
Have a great weekend!
