H is for Halloween!

This week in kindergarten was SO MUCH FUN! We learned about the letter H (a bit of a tricky letter sound), talked about what it means to be healthy and explored the human skeleton!

The kiddos loved examining their snacks to sort healthy and unhealthy foods. We learned that it's GREAT to treat ourselves from time to time, as long as we have healthy foods mixed in too :)

Healthy foods build healthy bodies! Do you know how many bones are in the human body? Ask your child! Do you know that babies have more bones than grown ups? Ask your child why. We learned to name our skull, ribs and hips.

Check out how much fun we had during centre time this week...

Here's what the kiddos were up to with Mrs. Planden:

This week in math we continued to delve into the topic of sorting. Our kindergarten friends are sorting experts already! We got to explore the many different loose part collections in our classroom and sorted by size, shape and colour. Some friends even found really complex ways to sort their items (like number of holes a button had)! We’ve been using words like set and attribute.  We found that some items could be sorted in multiple ways, while some we could only sort one way.

We were introduced to a deck of cards and each of us got a few cards to make some observations. Some of us knew all about cards, while for some it was new! We noticed that each card was different and that the cards were either black, or red, and that sometimes there were a couple cards that weren’t black or red!
We played a fun game called “Fuzz Balls” that we played together on the smart board. I’ll post the link below if your child might like to show you!

Happy Halloween everyone!! 👻
