We dove into our ocean inquiry this week with a look at one of the most fascinating creatures in the sea...the octopus! We watched a variety of octopus video clips, read many stories and learned a TON of interesting facts. Your child is now pretty much an octopus expert. Students recorded some of their new learning through their all-star writing skills and drew some beautifully detailed artwork to accompany it. We've also been painting octopuses at center time. How cute are these?!?

We've been practicing making and breaking numbers to match our calendar number each day. Although creating number sentences is NOT an expectation in kindergarten, many of our students are enjoying this challenge (and totally ROCKING it)!

Classroom Reminders:

1.  Sports Day is coming! This will be taking place on the early dismissal morning of Friday, June 8. We will require 4 or 5 afternoon parents to join us for the festivities and help our kinders make it through all of the stations. If you are interested in being one of our volunteers AND have your approved security clearance, please email me (taroberts@cbe.ab.ca) to let me know. Morning students are more than welcome to join us for this exciting morning, but will require adult supervision. I will send out further details as I learn more.
