Wild About Bugs!

It was all about bugs this week in kindergarten! We started by looking closely at insect images and practiced sketching what we see. We are getting VERY good at observational drawing!

We read a book called, Hey Little Ant, which introduced us to the concept of perspective. The story is told from the differing perspectives of a boy and an ant, and asks the reader to come up with their own ending to the story around whether or not the boy should squish the ant. Ask your child about their ideas about how the story should end.

We met Lady Buggy on Thursday and had the opportunity to interact with some pretty incredible bugs! I am so proud of our little learners. Many of them started the day too fearful to touch anything and were comfortable enough to touch and hold our visitors by the end of the morning. Thank you SO MUCH to our parent volunteers who helped facilitate this experience for us.

In math this week, children continued to explore the wonderful world of 3D shapes. Ask your child to find examples of spheres, cylinders, cubes and rectangular prisms around the house this weekend!

Ms. Lawson's class shared their baby chicks with us!

Here's a look at our centre time this week...
