Happy New Year! We have had the most beautiful first week back. This time of year is truly magical! Every year around this time, children begin to take more ownership of their learning and become more open to trying new things and taking risks in their learning. I am so proud of our kiddos.

One of my favourite parts of being a teacher is being able to support the children in bringing their ideas to life. Listening carefully as they play, I pay attention to recurring themes or interests that arise. With many of our young friends expressing an interest in becoming a veterinarian, it was an easy choice to create a vet clinic as one of our new learning centres.

With a new year full of possibilities ahead of us, we talked about our hopes and dreams for the future. Children have been excitedly adding paintings to our wishing tree all week.

Drawing is one of the many beautiful ways students communicate their ideas in kindergarten. This week, children drew pictures to represent one of their favourite memories. They worked hard to include a background and many details to give clues about where they are and what they are doing in their picture. We will continue with this exciting art project next week.

On our Early Dismissal Friday, afternoon students explored what it means to engage in a successful conversation. Children practiced sitting knee to knee, eye to eye and heart to heart with their classmates. We learned that a conversation involves listening as well as speaking and practiced asking questions and responding to the ideas that were shared. Try this at home!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I'll leave you with a few more photos from our vvvvery exciting week.
