F is for Fall!

We learned about the signs of fall this week and had so much fun completing a scavenger hunt at the park. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful space just steps from our classroom.

We practiced printing the letter F in our journal and drew pictures of things that begin with this letter. Ask your child what they drew in their journal and what our action is for the letter F.

On Thursday we spent time talking about Thanksgiving and learned that each of our families has different traditions and ways of celebrating this day. The kids loved talking about the pumpkin pie, the turkey and the family gatherings that are planned for this weekend. We learned about what it means to be thankful and each child drew pictures of things they feel grateful for.

We've been practicing underhand throwing and catching in the gym.

In math this week, we continued our number studies with the number 4. We were amazed at how many of us had 4 family members, and at how many people brought in a stuffy to show 2 arms and 2 legs, for a total of 4! Did you know that the number 4 in Blackfoot is Nisooyi? We are getting very well practiced counting to 4 in Blackfoot and sign language. Have your child show you this new skill! We also played a fun dice game where we tried to roll a target number and collect corks to practice our skills in subitizing (recognizing quantities at a glance without having to count).

And as always, we love our daily centre time, when children are free to explore their own interests.

May your Thanksgiving long weekend be filled with fall magic, family fun and lots of sunshine!
