It feels great to be back with your little ones again! Although we had a very short week together, the past few days have been filled with beautiful, artistic exploration. This week was all about the letter V, so we focused our learning on my VERY favourite artist, Vincent van Gogh. Students were inspired to create their very own Starry Night paintings and self-portraits during center time this week. We enjoyed learning a little bit about his life and were shocked to learn how few paintings he sold in his lifetime. In case you were curious, Starry Night could NOW be yours for the bargain price of 100 million dollars!

Children learned to create their own surveys and collect data from their classmates. They had SO much fun with this. There were so many skills integrated into this activity. Reading and writing each other's names, organizing information, talking to each other, and evaluating the data once their surveys were complete. Ask your child what their survey question was :)

We enjoyed drawing and sharing stories with each other about our exciting spring break adventures!

Classroom Reminders

1. Beginning next week, we will only be switching home reading books on Mondays and Thursdays. This is to encourage students to read their books over multiple days (building fluency, expression and sight-word vocabulary) and will help to streamline the process of sharing and switching books at school.

2. If you are interested in ordering any Scholastic books this month, orders are due back on Monday.
