This week was all about the letter H! Students are becoming more and more enthusiastic about our weekly letters and are beginning to notice many things throughout the week that begin with the letters we have learned so far (P and H). We meet new animal friends each week who help to teach us about our new letter. Last week we met Papa Pig and this week we met Henry the horse and Henrietta the hippo.

We read a wonderful book called Snuffle's House that integrated all of our learning about shapes with our new understanding of letters. Students worked through a building challenge to create a home for Snuffles that had walls, a door, a roof and a second floor. They loved being builders for a day and were incredibly focused and engaged throughout their challenge. We learned about what it means to be persistent and practiced keeping our cool when things didn't work out according to plan.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we spent some time talking about family traditions and the things we are thankful for. Many students reflected on how much they appreciate their warm and happy home. Children shared about the things they love most about their home and talked about what makes their home unique. We used the photos you sent in to create beautiful drawings of our houses and will work on painting them over the next few days. There was so much excitement as children were drawing. They were so proud to share their pictures with each other. Thank you so much for your support with this special project :)
